X-rays have long been a tool in the toolbox of dental health care, but we are now able to utilize much more advanced x-ray technology to our patients’ advantage. Digital radiography utilizes an electronic sensor to capture and store digital images of both your teeth and jaw.
This method not only reduces radiation exposure by up to 10 times what you would experience from a traditional machine, but it also works considerably faster. These digital images are viewable in seconds, meaning that we are able to diagnose developing problems immediately.
Drs. Werschky and Lewis are able to use laser technology to scan any deep grooves in your teeth, observe the level of decay, and determine how necessary treatment may be.
By using this technology, we are able to save our patients from developing a deep cavity by identifying and treating them at an early stage. We are thrilled to offer this as a part of our comprehensive dental exam as a way for our patients to save time, money, and the structure of their teeth!
Biolase Waterlase® MD Dental Laser
We are proud to provide convenient, painless treatment for cavities. WaterLase® MD is an effective and minimally invasive treatment that allows us to remove decay and place fillings without requiring needles for anesthesia. Because it is less invasive, you can come in, get your procedure, and get back to your life quickly without the inconvenience of numbed teeth, lips or tongue.
This is a revolutionary approach to caries detection. It uses near-infrared light (not radiation) that bathes the tooth in CariVu’s transillumination technology which makes porous legions in the tooth visible by absorbing the light. The images appear similar to x-ray images, with problem areas appearing as dark spots.
When we are able to observe these structures, we get a very accurate picture of where the problems are and then develop a treatment plan on how to address them to get your dental health back to where it needs to be.
Call us today at (810) 671-5616 to learn more about these technologies and many others we employ. Our Genesee County dental care team is highly experienced and happy to educate you!
